In 2014, Amanda Brodie’s son Alex, was born with Transposition of the Greater Arteries and underwent surgery  when he was just 20 days old. While the family were in CHI Crumlin, Amanda decided she would fundraise as much as possible to give back. She began with a small raffle at a Powerlifting Competition. And when so many people were touched by Alex’s journey, she went on to organise the National Powerlifting Charity Championships in aid of Heart Children in 2016. This year the event raised over €8,000, bringing the total raised to date to a superb €50,000 for Heart Children.
