INR Testing

Some children will need to be on warfarin medication as part of their medical treatment, either on a temporary basis or for life.

Warfarin helps to regulate the thickness of the blood and regular blood tests are required to assess the levels of warfarin that need to be administered. This requires children to attend their nearest general hospital and these visits can be traumatic, time consuming and disruptive for the family unit.

Heart Children funds home-testing devices to children which allows them to monitor their INR readings from home.
