Hello all from the remote Heart Children Ireland Office and a special welcome to our new families who have joined us since our last update. We do hope everyone is doing well. We continue to hear from so many of you and are thinking of you all.

We are delighted to tell you that (as part of the All Island Network, established to develop a world class patient and family-centric Congenital Heart Disease Service for the island of Ireland), a paediatric cardiology service has been established at University Hospital Limerick to improve patient access for families living in the Mid-West. The regional service has now commenced through the appointment of Dr Rachel Power as consultant paediatrician with a specialist interest in paediatric cardiology. A Clinical Nurse Specialist, Georgina Purcell, has also been appointed to support this service development.  The service already exists at Cork University Hospital headed up by Dr. Daragh Finn.  We thought you might like to read this article from The Limerick Leader detailing the appointment of Dr. Rachel Power.

We are also delighted to share an interview one of our adult members, Grace, did recently.  Grace tells her story to Crystal who heads up an online support group for adults living with CHD in the USA. A huge thanks to Grace for allowing us to share her story.

Our Hearts Need Yours Campaign has been backed by Damien Duff and a Press Release was issued yesterday.  We are delighted to share this media post from the Irish Mirror. Don’t forget to send in your hearts and please donate whatever you can. With so many of our fundraising activities stopped we are struggling to keep our services going and would love to hear from you with fundraising ideas.  We will continue to work hard to advocate on your behalf.

Another of our very talented adults, a songwriter and singer, has shared this lovely song, called Fallen, with us. Enjoy the wonderful voice of Miriam Bridgeman.

Do stay safe and keep in touch with us. We are open and operating a reduced service. The Heart Children Ireland Family Psychology Support Service continues to operate at this time albeit on a reduced service via telephone. We are here, as always, to chat and do what we can.  We are hoping to be back in the office on a part time basis from June 8th (depending on HSE guidelines) and we will keep you updated!  Warmest wishes and our sincere thanks for your continued support. Stay safe and Mind yourselves, Linda & Margaret ❤️❤️
