The Heart Children Youth Council is a committee, reporting to the CEO, made up of young people with CHD aged 12-18 from all over Ireland with the aim of giving a voice to a channel to provide their views and feedback on services and matters relating to their medical care.
These meetings will take place on Zoom and will be chaired by 17yr old, Siofra Thomas. Siofra explains,
“This is a youth council created by young people with CHD to shape our futures and that of younger people. We want to confront issues that face teenagers; share our experiences and reduce the mental distress of transitioning from child to adult services. We want to make this easier. I am looking for 10 other young people, aged 12-18 from all over Ireland to join me on the council to give young people with CHD a voice. Please contact email@example.com if you would like to put your name forward and give the county you are from and your contact number”.
It’s envisaged that the group will meet one evening per month via zoom and if you would like to help, Siofra looks forward to welcoming you!
